Kunstløypa mellom bruene
A day of porcelain, dance, fire and river — a market and day programme on the quay, and the KLANGKRAFT concert evening in the backyard.
A three-year art and urban development project, 2024–2027.
Kunstløypa mellom bruene foregrounds the connections between the things that make Porsgrunn distinctive: the porcelain, the river, the landscape, the people and the bridges that tie it all together. Initiated by Kunsthall Grenland in collaboration with Porsgrunn municipality.

KLANGKRAFT — the sound and movement of porcelain craft
Kunstløypa invites you to an evening celebration with the KLANGKRAFT performance. New music from a percussion instrument built of porcelain objects is given physical form by dancers Virpi Pahkinen and Pontus Sundset. The instrument — with sound from plates, bowls and jars — was developed by percussionists Mika Takehara and Ludvig Nilsson. The music was written specially by Kajsa Lindgren, and was first presented at Gustavsberg Porslinsfabrik in Sweden in 2025.

Guillemot workshop · Nellie Jonsson & Tonje Paus
The guillemot is an endangered seabird along the Norwegian coast. The artists tell the story of the guillemot, and the children get to make their own version of the bird — a pleasant morning about nature and porcelain. The sculptures can be fired and collected at the museum afterwards. (Ages 7 and up · NOK 250.) The artists are themselves working on a guillemot sculpture for Kunstløypa, covered in mosaic from the porcelain factory, to be unveiled at Lysthusåsen in 2027.
Open workshop 1400 · Ovnsvakta · Julius Karoubi
Ovnsvakta is Kunstløypa’s largest project — a multi-purpose building with a wood-fired public kiln and integrated art, with workshop space and a social outdoor area with a pizza oven. Julius Karoubi has been chosen for the art commission, known for large-format mosaic works and a playful, material-aware approach to traditional craft. At the workshop he shows some of the process.
Self-firing ceramics · Aasne Viddal
Ceramic objects made with alternative techniques that require no conventional kiln. By Aasne Viddal and others.
Temporary works · Thomas Iversen and Leiken Vik
Thomas Iversen shows a temporary work at Pynten, and Leiken Vik a temporary work at Lysthusåsen — both with Porsgrunds Porselænsfabrik as a cultural monument and marker of the city’s identity.
BergerudUstad · public-space design
In collaboration with Kunstløypa, the duo design and build a temporary rig for the events. BergerudUstad is a Trondheim-based architecture practice run by Are Skogedal Bergerud and Silje Grandetrø Ustad.
